Ground handling company officials and union representatives offered conflicting reports on how Toronto's Pearson Airport was dealing with 700 ground crew workers going on strike this weekend.

According to a report from The Globe and Mail, Swissport, the employer of workers on strike, said there were no major delays Sunday afternoon. However, an official with the Teamsters, which represents the striking workers, reported that there were backlogs in moving baggage as well as flight delays.

The report stated both sides were watching operations on Sunday because all of the 30 airlines that Swissport provides ground services to had flights going in and out of the airport. The workers went on strike on Thursday due to pay and benefits cuts.
