Swissport Served 250 Million Passengers and Handled 4.7 Million Tons of Cargo in 2017
In 2017 Swissport International Ltd. increased the number of passengers served on behalf of its airline clients to some 250 million (up 8.7 percent on 2016) and lifted the number of cargo tons handled to some 4.7 million (up 8.4 percent). At year-end, the company was present at 279 airports in 48 countries around the globe. Total revenue increased to CHF 3.1 billion in 2017 (up 6.4 percent).
The number of passengers served by Swissport on behalf of its airline clients at airports around the globe climbed by some 20 million to 250 million in 2017 (up 8.7 percent on 2016). The cargo volume handled rose to 4.7 million (up 8.4 percent). With a workforce of more than 65,000 personnel at year-end, the company was present at 279 airports in 48 countries.
Swissport increased total revenue to CHF 3.1 billion in 2017 (up 6.4 percent on 2016). In the Cargo segment, revenue amounted to CHF 0.6 billion (up 9.2 percent) and for the Ground Handling segment, the company reported revenue of CHF 2.5 billion (up 5.7 percent).

With the acquisition of Aerocare this month, we also set the strategic foundation for future growth in the Asia Pacific region.”
Aerocare, the number one ground handler in Australia and New Zealand, will add 36 airports to the network of Swissport. Aerocare will contribute 15 million passengers, lifting the number of passengers served by Swissport to some 265 million annually. The Swiss market leader is now present at 315 airports in 50 countries.
