Menzies Secures Contracts with Sunwing in Orlando and Toronto

Oct. 16, 2018
The Toronto contract is Sunwing’s largest location, bringing 4,600 turns per year to Menzies Aviation’s portfolio, and prompting the company to begin the hiring of 300 new employees at the station to ensure a successful startup.

Sunwing Airlines has selected Menzies Aviation for three-year ground handling contracts at two North American locations.

The contracts include passenger services, ramp handling and cabin cleaning, with a renewal at Orlando International Airport (MCO) in Florida and a significant new contract in Toronto (YYZ).

The YYZ contract is Sunwing’s largest location, bringing 4,600 turns per year to Menzies Aviation’s portfolio, and prompting the company to begin the hiring of 300 new employees at the station to ensure a successful startup. MCO offers a seasonal Sunwing service between December and April, which totals approximately 230 annual turns.

Sunwing is a Canadian low-cost airline headquartered in Toronto, offering services from Canada to 73 destinations across the United States, Mexico, the Caribbean and Central and South America.

Paul Walton, SVP Sales and Commercial Operations - Americas, said: “This is a major contract win for the Americas region, and particularly for our fast-growing Canadian business. The YYZ operation involves a particularly large towing element - due to Sunwing’s complex schedule at this, their largest hub - in addition to passenger, ramp and cabin cleaning elements.

“I am confident that our great team in YYZ have the tools and determination to very quickly show Sunwing that they made the right choice in selecting Menzies.”
