Hactl Wins in New Handling Awards
Hong Kong, Dec. 3, 2018 -- Hong Kong Air Cargo Terminals Ltd (Hactl) – Hong Kong’s largest independent cargo handler – has won the Best Station award, at the first-ever Pride of Ground Handling Awards. Hactl Ground Services Supervisor Chung Cho Sim Felix was also highly commended in the Rising Star category.
New in 2018, the Pride of Ground Handling Awards are intended to celebrate excellence in ground services, and recognize those individuals whose hard work and professionalism underpin the global aviation business.
More than 100 entries were received, competing for five categories: Best Station; Best Handler-Airline Innovation; Ramp Safety; Rising Star; and Unsung Hero. A panel of 14 aviation experts from airlines, GSPs, regulators and industry associations independently assessed the qualifying entries in a two-stage selection process.
Hactl Chief Executive Wilson Kwong received the award from well-known industry figure John Willis at a glittering ceremony held during the GHI 20th Annual Conference in Gothenburg.
Says Kwong: “We are delighted to have received the Best Station award in these, the first-ever Pride of Ground Handling Awards. Ground handling – particularly on the cargo side of the business – has traditionally received very little public recognition of the vital role it plays in the aviation industry. We applaud the organizers’ efforts to correct this situation, and to counteract the misconception that we are an industry that competes only on price, not quality.”
He continues: “We also congratulate Felix for being highly commended in the Rising Star category. He thoroughly deserves this recognition, but he is also representative of many others in our organisation who have displayed commitment and professionalism from an early age.
“Hactl has always promoted the handling industry as a rewarding career choice for young people. Felix’s achievement at these awards helps to demonstrate the truth in our claims.”
