Skytanking Australia was awarded an into-plane license by Sydney Airport Corporation, becoming the first independent into-plane fueling service provider at Sydney Airport, and within Australia. With investment in four hydrant vehicles and one tanker, Skytanking Australia will commence servicing its customers at Sidney Airport from Dec. 1, 2021, with a goal to expand services in 2022.
In addition to expanding services at Sydney Airport, Skytanking Australia will also commence the operation and maintenance of the fuel storage and hydrant system at Adelaide Airport from 1 December 2021. Adelaide Airport Limited awarded Skytanking Australia the operating contract after purchasing the fuel storage assets from a joint venture of oil companies. Adelaide Airport Aviation Fuel Facility stores 2.8 ML of Jet A-1, has 2.6 km of underground hydrant pipeline, 45 hydrant points across 20 apron bays and three into-plane fueling companies.
"Following Skytanking entering the Australian and Sydney market in October 2020, it has been our ambition to expand the business, including an into-plane fuelling service at Australia’s busiest airport, Sydney. The Skytanking team has invested a great deal of effort in preparation for Sydney into-plane and Adelaide fuel facility. We look forward to commencing these new operations and servicing our customers in 2021 and beyond," says Ievers Gunesekere, regional vice president, Skytanking Australia.
