Baltic Ground Services (BGS) Group, an international provider of ground handling, aviation fuel supply and logistics services, and a part of Avia Solutions Group, announces changes in the management team. Vytautas Cekanavicius, who previously held the position of head of fueling at BGS Group, has been appointed as the new CEO, replacing Gytis Gumuliauskas starting from Feb. 6.
Cekanavicius has valuable long-term experience in leading fueling companies within the BGS group. For the past four years, he has been responsible for the operations and results of 10 BGS fueling stations across five different countries.
"I am confident that this change will encourage the BGS team to strive for new heights. I believe that Vytautas' competence, strong leadership skills, as well as in-depth knowledge and previous experience in the group, will help the company continue to grow, thrive, and expand successfully in the market," says Jonas Janukenas, CEO of Avia Solutions Group.
Gumuliauskas, who has been leading BGS Group until now will continue his professional journey with Avia Solutions Group. He will be responsible for the expansion of the company’s footprint in Australia, where it has already taken its first steps, recently announcing the acquisition of the Australian airline Skytrans. It is a strategic move for Avia Solutions Group's expansion into the Asia-Pacific region. In 2023, Avia Solutions Group established two new airlines in the region, BBN Airlines Thailand and BBN Airlines Indonesia, and plans to establish or acquire additional airline companies in Brazil, Thailand, the Philippines, Malaysia, Australia, and Indonesia by the end of 2024.
BGS provides ground handling services at Lithuanian airports. It is responsible for aircraft fueling at Palanga, Kaunas, Vilnius, Riga, Tallinn, and Ostrava airports, and supplies fuel to Neste fuel stations in Lithuania and Latvia. Additionally, BGS owns fuel stations in Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia, the Czech Republic, and Ukraine. LOT Polish Airlines, Finnair, DHL, Wizz Air, SAS, and Ryanair are among the company’s clients.
