Beumer Group Sees Challenges and Opportunities at IABSC Baggage Handling Summit
BEUMER Group sees great challenges and opportunities at the upcoming IABSC BHS Summit, Jan. 27–28.
The BHS (virtual) event will focus on the catastrophic impacts of COVID-19 on airports and airlines and how the industry will react and adjust to those impacts.
“I expect that the presenters, such as DFW (Dallas-Fort Worth airport), Delta Air Lines, TSA and various panels will agree that the global pandemic has accelerated the rate of change in many areas,” said David Delaney, vice president, airport integration, BEUMER Corporation.
Airports are often ranked by terminal facilities, accessibility, baggage check-in and baggage claim, security check, and then food and beverage and shopping options. “When the air travel industry moves forward, our CrisBag tote-based baggage transport and sortation systems, will become more widely deployed to reduce manual handling, support shared airline use and provide 100 percent track and trace features,” said Delaney.
The CrisBag system places each item of baggage in a numbered tote, and the bag’s IATA barcode data is merged with tote’s RFID information. Baggage remains in the same dedicated tote during transport, screening and sortation. The CrisBag system has been certified by TSA for in-tote baggage security screening with the Smits Detection CTX9800.
“As airports and airlines move forward in a post COVID-19 world, there will be many reasons for them to adapt the latest and most efficient technologies and practices to improve customer experience,” said Delaney.
