We’re wrapping up our 2012-2013 Worldwide Directory issue this week. This year’s edition includes 26 pages of GSE manufacturers and service providers, plus a handy cross index that runs the alphabet from “Air Starts” to “Vehicle Lifts.”
While there’s more than 300 listings included in the issue, one of the best pieces of GSE is the magazine itself. We recently polled a sample of our Ground Support Worldwide readers for their thoughts on the magazine.
In the answer to the question, “Which of the following publications do you feel helps you most in your ground support responsibilities,” Ground Support Worldwide beat out the next nearest magazine by almost a 3-1 margin. Ground Support Worldwide also won an even more lopsided match over its next nearest competitor when asked “If all of these magazines arrived on the same day, which one would you read first?” Our magazine was the go-to publication with 63 percent of the vote, followed by Ground Handling International (15 percent); Airports International (11 percent); and Ramp Equipment News (8 percent).
But enough about us. What about you?
- Almost a third of our respondents identified themselves as an owner, president or CEO; almost 80 percent are either in the executive ranks or are a supervisor or manager.
- Sixty-four percent are somewhere between the ages of 41 and 60, with more than 36 percent 61 or older.
- Three-quarters own a tablet or smart phone or both. While it might not be 100 percent accurate to draw this statistical correlation, it’s possible that half of the 25 percent who don’t own either device, might own at least one over the next six months.
- Two-thirds are regular visitors to Facebook, Twitter or LinkedIn.
- Most have either graduated from a technical school or have a bachelor’s degree. Only 15 percent have a master’s degree.
While more than 87 percent receive this weekly e-newsletter, not enough appear to head over to www.aviationpros.com, particularly when it comes to investigating products and services. That’s disappointing since the digital world isn’t bound to page counts, paper, ink or printing schedules. So while we want you to park our August print directory close by, there’s no need to wait in order to log on to www.aviationpros.com/directory for information on products and services to make the next purchasing decisions.
