The Enterprise Innovation Awards recognize companies in Asia that are innovating through the use of technology and process best practices, and for their ability to deliver outcomes that consist of business results as well as game-changing capabilities.

Hong Kong, 19 December 2016 -- Hong Kong Air Cargo Terminals Limited (Hactl) – Hong Kong’s largest independent cargo handler – has received this year’s Enterprise Innovation Award in the Logistics and Transportation category.

Organized annually by Questex Media, the Enterprise Innovation Awards recognize those companies in Asia that are innovating through the use of technology and process best practices, and for their ability to deliver outcomes that consist of business results as well as game-changing capabilities.

The awards submissions are judged by a panel of well-known experts from industry, commerce and academia. Enterprises can submit correspondingly into one of the nine verticals. Winners are selected with particular reference to business performance and revenue impact, cost savings, technological innovation and pioneering factors, and transformational/change factors.

Hactl’s traditional spirit of innovation was showcased in its move to fundamentally improve operations through the adoption of mobile computing. The guiding strategy was to stop bringing people to information, and start bringing information to people throughout Hactl’s vast ramp and terminal operations, and across the wider air cargo community with whom it operates.

As one example, this has dramatically reduced ramp tug mileage, so improving efficiency, reducing emissions and cutting maintenance costs; it has also reduced ramp cargo exposure to severe weather, and cut the time taken from aircraft unloading to cargo arriving at the terminal. Customers and staff also benefit from greater information transparency.

Eric Poon, Hactl’s senior manager - performance enhancement, collected the trophy at a ceremony in Singapore attended by leading international representatives of commerce and industry.

Says Poon: “It was a great honor to receive this recognition of Hactl’s ongoing efforts to leverage technology to innovate our business. In the past three years we have worked hard with our IT and Service Delivery teams to improve performance and enhance customer experience. It was particularly gratifying to win against such worthy competition from some of the best-known names in global business.”
