Kilfrost, pioneers of industrial and de- and anti-icing solutions has significantly increased winter resilience in the airline industry after heavily investing into a European manufacturing facility.
Kilfrost Europe Ltd, a wholly owned subsidiary of Solventis Ltd, will begin manufacturing its aircraft de- and anti-icing products, under license, from its state-of-the-art plant in Antwerp, Belgium increasing the security of supply of their safety critical frost protection products.
The Type I, Type II and Type IV Kilfrost fluids will be produced both at Antwerp and in Haltwhistle, UK, strengthening the company’s robust position in the European market, with expected production readiness due in October 2017.
Gary Lydiate, Kilfrost Ltd Chief Executive, said: “The investment and expansion of production in Antwerp serves to underline Kilfrost’s commitment to the European market. We are addressing past challenges of supply head on, and can now offer two production sites in Europe, giving our customers there increased confidence.”
Kilfrost Europe Ltd was established in November 2016 as a daughter company of Solventis Ltd with an exclusive license deal for all aircraft de-icing fluids from Kilfrost UK Ltd across all EEA countries.
Solventis is a manufacturer and bulk distributor of petrochemical solvents and aircraft de-icing fluids, and partners with other world-class international suppliers across the globe. They operate the largest glycol blending facility in Europe based at the ADPO Antwerp Terminal facility.
The company already produces and stores Type I fluids at the Antwerp facility. The latest investment will also see an extension of the bulk storage capacity for aircraft de- and anti-icing fluids as well as to the IBC filling capability to guarantee maximum supply flexibility to the European customer base.
