Tronair recently celebrated its 50th anniversary. An event at Tronair headquarters, behind the TOL Airport in Swanton, Ohio was attended by more than 800 people, including Tronair’s very first employee, Al Stoneman.
When the company was founded in 1971 by Al and the Dana Corporate Flight Department, the name “Danair” was chosen. It wasn’t until Danair was sold to Tronco in 1979 that the company changed its name to “Tronair.”
The first product designed and manufactured by Tronair was the Snap-Bak King Air Towbar. Once towbars were developed, the company launched a line of jacks and hydraulic power units. Since then, Tronair has been building out its product portfolio and now manufactures equipment to support more than 375 types of aircraft with over 35 core product lines comprising thousands of variations to meet the exact needs of customers’ numerous applications.
The anniversary celebration offered a time to reflect upon and celebrate the last 50 years of Tronair and everyone who’s contributed to the success of the company.
“On behalf of all our associates, a huge thank you to all of our customers for trusting us to provide the highest quality ground support equipment in the aviation industry. Enabling safe flight is our mission at Tronair and we look forward to doing that for decades to come,” said Tronair president and CEO Paul Schwarzbaum.
