Goldhofer PHOENIX E Supports AirFrance in Sustainable Flight Challenge
The climate crisis is one of the greatest challenges in our time – also in the airport industry. Airlines and airports have to rise to this challenge to further reduce their CO2 footprint by finding new ways to reduce emissions and make their fleets more efficient.
SkyTeam, an association of several airlines, has launched a Sustainable Flight Challenge among its members. This is a competition for environmental sustainability on a medium-haul and long-haul flight. The competition covers all activities from check-in to check-out.
The aim of this competition is to leave the smallest possible CO2 footprint and to share the experience gained with the other airlines.
Goldhofer is pleased to have supported its long-standing partner AirFrance in this competition with the new electrically powered aircraft tractor PHOENIX E.
“With the PHOENIX E from Goldhofer, we can surely make a significant contribution to reducing our emissions in aircraft handling," says Rèmy Delabeye, head of GSE and Vehicles Division AirFrance.
The PHOENIX E is the flagship model among Goldhofer’s towbarless aircraft tractors. It is a powerful performer, offering speeds of up to 25 km/h for maintenance towing. It also has the versatility to handle the full range of today’s aircraft up to a maximum take-off weight (MTOW) of 352 t (Boeing B777 / Airbus A350), and covers about 70 percent of passenger and cargo aircraft types on the market.
