Emirates is looking into a self-driving fleet and an artificial intelligence (IA) system for cabin crew training as the Dubai-based airline participates in the Dubai Future Accelerators program.

According to a report by Gulf Business, Emirates will seek companies to develop solutions for future challenges in the aviation sector and support the sector’s growth in a sustainable way. The report states, the airline's three challenges include the development of a self-driving fleet for ground support operations at airports operating on 100 percent solar and electric power and with a 50 percent boost to the airline’s operational efficiency. The carrier also aims to find a new system to train cabin crew quickly and efficiently using advanced technologies like artificial intelligence and virtual reality and is seeking an integrated system to allow travelers to reserve cars and drivers, order plane meals and shop in duty free areas smoothly and efficiently.

The Dubai Future Accelerators program attracted more than 4,000 applications in its first two editions. The third round is now open for submissions and will be held over nine weeks starting in October.
