The Combo concept was created by Guinault to allow regional airports to be able to turn off APUs while minimizing infrastructure costs. On average, the load of a narrow-body aircraft oscillates between 15 and 25kW. In the Combo, the remaining power is used for air conditioning. While aiming APU off, the company maximizes the efficiency of the unit, whether it's electric or powered by a diesel engine. The 400Hz generation (aircraft power supply) being the most critical, the CF/GF Combo integrates a load shedding system for the air conditioning section during load peaks, which only last a few seconds. The momentary unloading of the air conditioning has no effect on the passenger.
