The IK-1000A- extreme low-light CCD camera capable of capturing high-resolution color video in nearly total darkness is now available from Toshiba. Incorporates a back-illuminated electron-multiplying CCD or EMCCD, a technology previously found only in scientific cameras. The IK-1000A’s EMCCD sensor amplifies very low light signals above the read noise floor of a CCD, eliminating read noise and rendering the camera single photon sensitive for use in overcast starlight conditions.
