News broke this morning of a collision at JFK involving an Air France A380 and a Comair regional jet. According to several reports, the incident occurred around 8 p.m. Monday night when the superjumbo caught the tail of the CRJ. The Air France flight was taxiing for takeoff, while the Comair flight had just landed and was headed for the gate. Thankfully, there have been no reported injuries.

With all the tools available today to prevent such incidents, it’s flabbergasting to watch. It also can make one’s stomach churn to think of the resulting damages to the aircraft (especially a shiny, new A380).
