This event will test a Technician's ability to detect cracks emanating from fastener heads using Surface Eddy Current. The Technician will be required to set up an instrument per instructions and Eddy Current surface scan around countersunk fastener heads. Scoring will be determined by the number of "correct" calls and by the lengths. The lengths of the cracks will have a point criteria. Any miss calls will warrant a penalty. A standardized sheet will be provided to quickly mark the area of the crack. The instrument to be used will be an Olympus Nortec 2000D. The USCG will provide the judges for this event. This event will be given 20 minutes to be completed in.
