Charlotte/Douglas International Airport: There's a map for that

Want to know whether your home is being polluted by noise from Charlotte/Douglas International Airport?

We think just living there should give you the answer. But if that's not enough, there's an official noise map for the area near the airport.

A new map for Charlotte/Douglas is slated for release in December. Thanks to a third runway added in 2010, Charlotte/Douglas officials have submitted a revision for the Federal Aviation Administration to review.

Until then, homeowners in the current noise zone can get free noise-proofing work done on their properties, paid for by the FAA.

Charlotte/Douglas officials sent letters to 161 property owners in the noise area and said that so far only 29 have responded.
