One man was killed and another injured when a small airplane crashed Friday afternoon at the Mesquite Municipal Airport.
The names of the men had not been released, pending notification of relatives. The injured man was taken to a Dallas hospital, where his condition was unknown.
The plane crashed around 4:40 p.m. Friday at the airport, which is in the 1100 block of Hudson Airport Boulevard, off Scyene Road.
"A witness saw it flying at about 1,000 feet headed north," said Lt. Steve Callarman, a Mesquite police spokesman. "He said it banked like it was trying to head back south. But in his words, it made too steep a bank for that altitude."
The witness told police that the plane spun once or twice as it nose-dived into the ground.
Police aren't sure which of the men was piloting the two-seater Cessna A150K, which was registered to a Houston man.
Lt. Callarman said the plane had been stored at the airport for just over three weeks. He said federal investigators were headed to the airport to investigate the crash.
