Norwegian low-fare airline Norwegian Air Shuttle AS (Norwegian) said on Thursday (30 August) that it has ordered 42 new Boeing 737-800 aircraft with Blended Winglets.
The new aircraft will supplement the 11 Boeing 737-800 aircraft Norwegian ordered from Boeing in May this year.
The 42 aircraft will be delivered over a five-year period from 2009 through 2014, with around 10 aircraft each year.
The aircraft have a list price of USD3.1bn, the company said.
Norwegian said that this is the largest order in Europe received by Boeing for the company's 737 series thus far in 2007.
The company added that it has also ensured purchase rights for an additional 42 aircraft of the same model from Boeing.
Norwegian Air Shuttle AS is a low-fare airline registered on the Oslo Stock Exchange. It employs some 620 people and operates a total of 82 routes, 10 domestic and 72 international, with a fleet of 20 Boeing 737-300 aircraft.
One British pound (£) is worth approximately 2.00 US dollars (USD).
