Airport board considers purchasing property

Aug. 23, 2007

GUTHRIE - The Guthrie-Edmond Regional Airport Board may decide today on purchasing property to expand the airport.

The board is expected to convene an executive session in its regularly scheduled meeting to discuss buying land owned by the Bross family. The board has shown interest in the land since December.

Depending on the outcome of the executive session, the board may then vote to ask both the Guthrie and Edmond city councils to purchase the property either through negotiation or eminent domain.

Also today, the airport board plans to discuss contracting with Francis Tuttle Technology Center to put on a one-day workshop in September. In its last meeting, airport board members said a workshop was necessary to discuss projects such as foreign trade zones, airport marketing brochures and better use of airport land.

If the workshop is Sept. 18, the airport board would move its regular meeting to Sept. 26.

The Guthrie-Edmond Regional Airport Board meets at 3 p.m. today at the airport terminal, 520 Airport Road, off U.S. 77 in Guthrie.
