Teterboro Airport was closed briefly yesterday at about 12:30 p.m. after an idling plane caught fire on a taxiway while a pilot and mechanic were running tests, a Port Authority spokesman said.
The fire was extinguished by Port Authority Police and there were no injuries, said Marc La Vorgna, an agency spokesman. The plane was not scheduled for takeoff.
La Vorgna said the airport, located in Bergen County, was closed at 12:30 p.m. for approximately 10 minutes.
A "Snozzle" truck using foam was used to put out the flames, added the spokesman.
