Manufacturer and designer of aircraft engines Pratt & Whitney Canada (P&WC), a business unit of United Technologies Corp (NYSE:UTX), on Monday (23 July) announced that the company has been awarded two new contracts by Epic Aircraft. Epic has chosen a PW600 engine to power its Victory very light jet (VLJ). P&WC will reportedly be the exclusive supplier for the five-seat Victory starting with aircraft number 7. In addition Epic has also selected the PT6A-67 turboprop engine to power its new six-seat Dynasty aircraft. P&WC said that its PW615 and PW617 engines are designed to deliver significant step changes in performance, cost and durability. These new-generation turbofans meet aggressive fuel consumption and material design targets to offer a greener product to VLJ customers, the company said. Financial details of the contracts were not available.
