Ryanair Wants Polish Government Help for Advertising

March 7, 2007

The budget airline Ryanair would like the Polish Tourist Organisation (POT) and the Economy Ministry, which supervises it, to subsidise its advertising campaigns.

The airline wants to promote Poland as a destination accessible thanks to its cheap flights. "The campaign would be financed half and half by both partners. Such a scheme was successful in Ireland, Great Britain, Scotland and in Italy," says Tomasz Kulakowski, responsible for marketing and sales at Ryanair.

Kulakowski explains that an offer to fly to various destinations in Poland is a good way of promoting the airline. As proof, he shows articles in foreign media and outdoor campaigns, together with an advert for Poland in Europe's largest tourist portal, which is owned by Ryanair.

Local authorities are eager to advertise on Ryanair's home page. This is why the company aimed higher and addressed the government itself.
