Income from rentals of new hangars is expected to generate a nearly 8 percent jump in revenues at Westmoreland County's two airports.
According to a preliminary budget introduced Tuesday by officials of the county airport authority, the additional hangars -- six at Rostraver Airport and four to be built at the Arnold Palmer Regional Airport near Latrobe -- are estimated to increase revenues by $146,000.
The authority's tentative $2 million operating budget for 2007 relies on the revenue increases generated from rental fees of the new hangars to offset additional spending.
Operations at the airports are projected to cost about $1.85 million this year.
Airport officials said the proposed budget also calls for no additional allocations from the county, which provides the authority with about $800,000 in subsidy for its expenses.
The proposed spending plan was forwarded to the county for review. The authority is expected take final action on the tentative budget before the end of the year.
