Detroit Metropolitan Airport's McNamara Terminal went into a security lockdown for about a half-hour Monday night after a Northwest pilot reported his bag, which contained a gun, had vanished.
The airport stopped admitting passengers through security while the terminal was checked, said airport spokesman Michael Conway.
Just before officials were about to stop all departing flights from the terminal, an airport police officer found the missing bag with all contents still inside, one gate away from where the pilot reported last seeing it, Conway said.
By 10 p.m., terminal operations were back to normal. Conway said authorities were unsure what had happened to the bag.
