Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport has been awarded what has been described as one of the nation's most prestigious awards for energy efficiency.
The airport has said that the Alliance to Save Energy, an energy conservation group in the United States, will present the "Star of Energy Efficiency" award to DFW for its work in reducing energy consumption and air pollution and making North Texas a "greener" place to live and visit.
DFW airport said that its "green" efforts include operational improvements to the vehicle fleet, Energy Plaza (utility plant), Rent-A-Car facility and Terminal B.
The DFW International Airport Board was reportedly selected as a Star of Energy Efficiency recipient for its commitment to the efficient and environmentally-friendly use of energy. DFW is the first airport to be recognised for this award as well as the first entity in the aviation industry.
