TSA Names New Federal Security Director for Portland International Airport

Michael T. Irwin comes to Portland after serving as the DFSD of San Francisco International Airport since August 2002.

WASHINGTON, Sept. 26 /PRNewswire/ -- The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) has named Michael T. Irwin as the new Federal Security Director (FSD) for Portland International Airport. Irwin comes to Portland after serving as the DFSD of San Francisco International Airport since August 2002.

"PDX is fortunate to have Mike on board as head of transportation security. He is a focused individual who will do a great job of balancing security and customer service," said Ed Gomez, Western Area Director for TSA. "He has done a superb job as the DFSD in San Francisco and his leadership skills and diverse experiences will serve the TSA staff and stakeholders well at PDX."

Prior to joining TSA, Irwin served 25 years in the Air Force where he retired as a Colonel. He has an extensive background in aviation operations including flying, performing command and control functions, engineering, and in senior staff positions. He also served in multiple high level positions including time on the Joint Chiefs of Staff at the Pentagon and as Director of Operations for the White House Military office.

Irwin replaces Robert E. Jackson who accepted a position in the private sector.
