BATON ROUGE, La., July 12 /U.S. Newswire/ -- Daniel J. (Dan) Burche has been named federal security director at Baton Rouge (La.) Metropolitan Airport, Kenneth S. Kasprisin, acting assistant secretary of the Transportation Security Administration (TSA), announced today.
Burche, a native of Branson, Mo., joined TSA in October 2002 and most recently served as deputy federal security director at Greater Binghamton Airport (BGM) in New York. Burche has also served as the deputy federal security director at Ithaca-Tompkins Regional (ITH), and Elmira-Corning Regional (ELM) Airports, located in New York's Southern Tier Region. Previous to TSA, Burche spent three years as a senior project officer, Explosive Detection/Countermeasures Program with the U.S. Department of State.

Prior to his experience with the U.S. Department of State, Burche spent 15 years in the U.S. Navy Special Operations Community and is a Master Explosive Ordnance Disposal Technician.
Burche assumed his position on July 10. He replaces James Spinden who transferred to Palm Springs, Calif.
