Grand Forks Int'l Airport Statistics Not as Low as Reported

June 27, 2005
The Herald reported Wednesday that airline boardings at the airport were down 10.5 percent in May compared to a year ago, the lowest May boardings in at least a decade. It turns out the North Dakota Aeronautics Commission had its numbers wrong.

The May 2005 boarding statistics at Grand Forks International Airport aren't as low as reported earlier this week, according to Steve Johnson, airport executive director.

The Herald reported Wednesday that airline boardings at the airport were down 10.5 percent in May compared to a year ago, the lowest May boardings in at least a decade.

It turns out the North Dakota Aeronautics Commission had its numbers wrong. Johnson said the commission has corrected and sent out new figures for May. Rather than down 10 percent compared to last year, the airport's May boardings increased 0.5 percent over 2004.
