Following a private auction held exclusively for authorized JLG dealers, Skyworks Equipment Rental of Buffalo, New York was the successful bidder for the 100,000th boom lift produced in North America by JLG Industries. JLG will donate a portion of the proceeds from the auction to volunteer fire departments in McConnellsburg, Bedford and Shippensburg, Pennsylvania, which provide fire protection for JLG’s main US manufacturing plants.
“We’re pleased with the success of this auction,” said Craig Paylor, senior vice president of marketing for JLG. “Proceeds from this event will be donated to these fire departments to support the vital service they provide for our facilities and for the communities in which we live and work.”
The 100,000th JLG boom lift is a Model 400S with special graphics and JLG’s exclusive SkyPower® generator and platform-mounted 280-amp SkyWelder®. Because of these productivity-boosting features the machine is already scheduled to go out on a long-term rental for work in a power plant as soon as delivery is arranged.
On presenting the 100,000th boom lift to Skyworks, Paylor stated, “We were delighted to learn that Skyworks was the successful bidder on this milestone machine. Although less than six years old, the company principals have a long history with JLG that goes back many years. We appreciate their business and confidence in JLG’s ability to deliver the products, performance and service that their business demands.”
Jerry R. Reinhart, son of aerial rental pioneer, Jerry L. Reinhart, founded Skyworks Equipment Rental in February 2001. Explained Reinhart, “The aerial rental business and JLG have been part of my life since I was a young boy. I can remember my father buying a centennial JLG lift in 1976 that was painted in patriotic red, white and blue colors. It was a very special machine and I was on hand when my father took delivery. That’s another reason why owning this JLG milestone machine means a lot to me. When JLG presented us with the keys to the machine, my seven-year-old son, Jerry J. Reinhart, was on hand to join us in the celebration. Hopefully some day he’ll look back on this special occasion and be able to celebrate a JLG milestone with his child. Who knows, maybe he’ll buy the millionth boom lift from JLG.”
Skyworks has facilities in Buffalo, Syracuse and Rochester, New York, and is currently planning to open additional locations in New York and Ohio in early 2007. Skyworks has offered JLG products at all of their locations since they opened their doors.
