RW Martin, Inc. Announces Increased Gross Weight STC for Restricted Category Operations of the DHC-6-300 Twin Otter
IKHANA Group, Inc. announced today the FAA’s approval of a Supplemental Type Certificate (STC No. SA02267LA) to RW Martin, Inc for the DHC-6-300 Twin Otter. The RWMI DHC-6-300RG STC increases the payload capabilities of the basic DHC-6-300 aircraft by 1,500 pounds, or 12%, to 14,000 pounds for aerial survey and scientific research missions operated under a restricted category.
The DHC-6 Twin Otter aircraft is a workhorse platform supporting regional airlines and special missions operations worldwide. This newly certified capability allows operators increased range, loiter, and operability to support their unique mission requirements and provides an FAA approved fatigue plan to support over weight operations. “By offering this STC, we are allowing flight departments, currently operating over gross weight limits, to safely operate using published FAA approved data.” states Mr. John Zublin, president of RW Martin, Inc. “We are also working to expand the application of this STC to aircraft operated in Standard Category in 2010.”
RW Martin, Inc. supports the international DHC-6 Twin Otter fleet with various upgrades including wing re-life, wing life extension, and air-conditioning STC’s plus other special missions modifications designed to suit unique customer requirements. The RW Martin modification facilities are located at the French Valley (F70) airport in Murrieta, CA.
