NBAA, Orlando, USA, October 19, 2009 – Innotech Aviation has received STC for its Sky Berry System, offering all business aircraft owners and operators the ability to receive and transmit data worldwide using their personal digital assistant (PDA) over a WI-FI network, at a substantially lower cost than today’s prices.
The Sky Berry System, which uses a router supplied by the International Communications Group (ICG), has already been installed on a HS 125-800 aircraft. Gesse Sciacca, Director of Avionics at Innotech explains that this first installation communicates through the iridium satellite system, which is less expensive to install than other satellite systems and does not require a broadband system. However, it can also be interfaced with an existing Inmarsat Aero H Satcom System. The system can be installed within two days.
“We are very happy to have received STC on this system and to have successfully completed our first installation,” says Rob Brooks, Vice President and General Manager of Innotech Aviation. “By bringing this system to the market we are able to offer users of all aircraft types the ability to access their email in their aircraft without paying the traditionally high access fees. We are confident that our users will benefit.”
