CHARLOTTE, NC — Goodrich Corp. said Thursday it has opened a plant at China's Tianjin Airport for jet engine component maintenance and repairs.
The Charlotte, NC, company, a supplier of systems and services to aerospace, defense, and homeland security markets, said it also will support engine work for the Airbus A320 aircraft final assembly line in Tianjin.
The facility serves as an interim location. Goodrich plans to open a 170,000-square-foot permanent facility next year across from the Airbus final assembly line in Tianjin.
Greg Peters, president, Goodrich Aerostructures, said Goodrich will be able to provide Airbus with engine assemblies ready for installation on its A320 aircraft assembled in Tianjin. And Goodrich also will supplement its MRO work that now is centered in Singapore.
