U.S. Department of Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood told the Washington Post on Monday that the Department of Transportation will release its data collected on birds striking airplanes. This contradicts previous reports that the FAA had planned to shroud such data in secrecy.
In LaHood's blog posting on Wednesday, he says that such FAA action " just isn't consistent with the direction President Obama wants to take this Administration. It doesn't fit our policies thus far, and it doesn't fit the way we see our mission."
