Historic aircraft from the CAF fleet will be on display and available for rides.

MIDLAND, TX – Get your hands on history with the Commemorative Air Force (CAF) at Sun'‘N Fun Fly-In 2009 when you take a ride in one of the CAF's vintage warbirds.

Historic aircraft from the CAF fleet will be on display and available for rides at Sun 'N Fun in Lakeland, FL, April 21-26, 2009. The CAF Ride Program offers people the once in a lifetime experience of flight in some the most historically significant aircraft of American Military Aviation. Aircraft rides will be available for purchase to the public at Hangar 57, the CAF's membership tent, on the Warbird Ramp.

Rides can be purchased in the CAF's P-51D Mustang Red Nose, B-24A Liberator Ol'927 and B-25 Yellow Rose. A ride in one of the CAF's aircraft gives the passengers an opportunity to attend a passenger briefing and personal introduction to the unique aircraft. The flight time is 20 to 30 minutes depending on the aircraft.

On Red Nose you can expect adventure when just you and the pilot take to the skies! In the B-24A and B-25, passengers experience the power of these uniquely beautiful aircraft as they rumble into the air. A ride in any one of these aircraft is a rare and memorable experience.

On display at the fly-in will be the CAF Dixie Wing's SBD-5 Dauntless, one of only two currently flying in the world, the CAF Memphis Squadron's Hawker Sea Fury FB.11 and the CAF Florida Wing’s two L-17 Navions, Allie-Gator and Misty Blue. Expect to see other exciting CAF and CAF member-owned aircraft on display. (Additional aircraft to be determined.)

"The Commemorative Air Force members are looking forward to kicking-off the aviation year at Sun 'N Fun," says Stephan Brown, President/CEO of the CAF. "Taking a ride in a historic fighter or bomber is the ultimate way to celebrate the start of a new season. We are inviting the public to 'get their hands on history' at Sun 'N Fun!"
