SAVANNAH, GA – General Dynamics Aviation Services, a wholly owned subsidiary of General Dynamics, recently expanded its fleet of Mobile Support vehicles across the country. The vehicles enable General Dynamics Aviation Services technicians to travel at a moment's notice to support Aircraft-on-Ground (AOG) situations. The vans and trucks are outfitted to handle common customer requirements at each site.
Equipment varies but can include aircraft jacks, an air compressor, a toolbox, and consumables. Some vehicles feature a laptop computer, wireless connectivity and a Global Positioning System (GPS), which ensures quick arrival to a plane, even in remote areas. The Mobile Support vehicles provide the resources necessary for technicians to perform or support a variety of maintenance services, including aircraft jacking, engine changes, troubleshooting, and repairs. The vehicles can also transport a wide range of replacement parts.
"Customer support is a priority for us, and adding Mobile Support vehicles only enhances the strong reputation we’ve built in that area," says Mark Burns, president, General Dynamics Aviation Services. "The feedback we’ve received tells me customers appreciate the added convenience and immediacy these trucks and vans provide."
General Dynamics Aviation Services also has access to Gulfstream Airborne Product Support (APS), the first-of-its kind airborne aircraft maintenance and repair support program, which was introduced in May 2002. The Gulfstream G100 APS aircraft is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year to deliver flight-essential parts and/or technicians to warrantied customers in North America and the Caribbean. In the case of international customers, the mid-cabin, high-speed APS plane will fly the needed parts and/or technicians to an airline hub, where they can connect to commercial flights to reach the customers' aircraft.
Gulfstream and General Dynamics Aviation Services are part of the General Dynamics Aerospace group. General Dynamics Aviation Services facilities are in Las Vegas; Dallas; Minneapolis; Appleton, WI; Westfield, MA; and West Palm Beach, FL. Technicians at each site provide product support for Challenger, Citation, Falcon, Global, Gulfstream, and Hawker aircraft.
