(National Business Aviation Association Convention & Exhibition – October 10, 2017) Esterline Avionics Systems has been selected by Honeywell Aerospace to supply the Synthetic Vision System Primary Flight Display (SVS PFD) for Honeywell’s Primus Elite® 875 / 885 Upgrade with Advanced Features.
Synthetic vision provides a 3-D color image of runways, terrain and obstacles, giving pilots a clear view of the virtual flight path. The increased level of situational awareness, which is particularly useful in unfamiliar locations, bad weather and at night, reduces errors as well as a pilot’s workload.
The SVS PFD for the Primus Elite® 875 / 885 Advanced Features has received ETSO approval from the European Aviation Safety Agency as well as airworthiness approval from the United States of America’s Federal Aviation Administration and the Brazilian Agência Nacional de Aviação Civil.
The upgrade is applicable to the Gulfstream IV / IV-SP / V, the Bombardier Global Express / XRS / 5000, the Embraer Legacy 600 / 650 / 650E, the Falcon 900 C/EX, the Cessna Citation X, and the Dornier 328.
The Primus Elite® 875 / 885 is a unique and specifically developed LCD for CRT form/fit display upgrade that provides improved safety, more efficient operations, and increased aircraft value. Primus Elite contributes to smarter and faster decision making, while reducing pilot workload through the incorporation of an upgraded graphical user interface with the available graphical information displayed in the pilot’s primary field of view.
Michel Potvin, president, Esterline Avionics Systems, said: “The selection of Esterline Avionics Systems to supply the SVS PFD is a continuation of our esteemed partnership with Honeywell Aerospace on the Primus Elite® 875 / 885 high-definition flight deck upgrade. Esterline is the supplier of the 875 / 885 display units which replace the CRT-based displays of the Primus 1000/2000/2000XP, SPZ-8400/8500, and selected SPZ 8000 Series Avionics Systems, with more than 2,500 displays delivered to date.”
