ViaAir Begins Nonstop Austin - Baton Rouge Flights

Sept. 13, 2018

Trade taste buds between Cajun crawfish boils, gumbo, and the smoky pits of Texas-style barbeque and Tex-Mex queso. Passengers are now able to fly nonstop between the capitals of Texas and Louisiana. Scheduled on Mondays, Thursdays, and Fridays, Via Airlines launched nonstop service between Austin, Texas and Baton Rouge, Louisiana on Sept. 13, 2018.

The nonstop departs from Austin’s South Terminal (AUS) at 11:45 a.m. and arrives at the Baton Rouge Metropolitan Airport (BTR) at 1:03 p.m. Flights will depart BTR at 1:38 p.m. and arrive in at 3:08 p.m. All times are local.

This is also great news for passengers who are anticipating the LSU Tigers vs. the University of Texas Longhorns football home-and-home series starting next season. The schools, separated by a 7-hour plus drive, will renew play in Austin on Sept. 7, following up in Baton Rouge on Sept. 12, 2020.

Along with new service to Baton Rouge from Austin, ViaAir options also include nonstop to Tulsa, Oklahoma (TUL), Little Rock, Arkansas (LIT), Oklahoma City (OKC), Tucson, Arizona (TUS), seasonal service to Branson, Missouri (BKG) and winter seasonal flights to Steamboat Springs / Hayden, Colorado (HDN).

Passengers at the South Terminal prepare to depart on the first Austin to Baton Rouge nonstop flight on ViaAir.
