U.S. Congressman Chip Cravaack (R-MN), is all shook up about the proposed purchase of Cirrus by a Chinese company. Says he wants to keep the jobs in Minnesota instead of “being shipped overseas to one of our major competitors in the global market.â€
Hey, how come Cravaack’s more worried about that than about our guvmint borrowing great gobs of filthy lucre from China? Besides, who is he—or Congress—to tell the current owners of Cirrus where they can sell it?
Cravaack also says he’s worried for security reasons about us shipping advanced technology to China. Hey, we’re building airplane parts and complete airplanes over there already.
I kinda thought we wanted to make sales in China. Or does that not apply when an entire company is sold?
And is it really possible to keep those jobs in Minnesota?
Methinks maybe the guy is just making noises to impress the people who vote in his area.
More than anything else, it just chaps me that Cravaack’s trying to tell the owners of private property what to do with said property.
Whatever happened to property rights, anyway?
