Windecker Aircraft’s North American R&D facility expects to complete its work soon with the FAA and the CAAC for a Type Certificate Validation (VTC) for the Windecker Eagle I aircraft.

Mooresville, NC – Windecker Aircraft’s North American R&D facility expects to complete its work soon with the FAA and the CAAC for a Type Certificate Validation (VTC) for the Windecker Eagle I aircraft. Windecker’s China-based parent company intends to produce new modernized versions of the Windecker Eagle, which first received a Type Certificate in 1969. The updates include a modern 550 engine, Hartzell propeller, new upholstery package and a modern Avionics suite, among others.

Supported by Chinese Entrepreneur Mr. Wei Hang, Windecker Aircraft in China already has erected 90,000 square meters of new facilities that are awaiting the development of a production line for the Eagle. The four seat, low wing, high performance, all composite aircraft will be produced for use in China’s emerging General Aviation market and in other Asian markets.

The Windecker Eagle was the first all-composite aircraft granted certification through FAR Part 23 by the FAA. In 1969-70 the company produced eight copies of the Eagle before succumbing to the effects of a recession. As with the original Eagles, the new versions manufactured in China will be made entirely of fiberglass. The avionics suite and upholstery will be upgraded to incorporate modern technologies. Expectations are that the first Chinese copies of the Eagle will roll off the production line possibly in late 2018 or early 2019.
