Safe-in-Sound Excellence in Hearing Loss Prevention Awards
Noise-induced hearing loss is a permanent but preventable problem. The Safe-in-Sound Excellence in Hearing Loss Prevention Awards™ were established by the the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) in partnership with the National Hearing Conservation Association to honor excellent hearing loss prevention practices in the work environment. Applicants are evaluated against key performance indicators in a review process designed to evaluate hearing loss prevention programs in each of three work sectors; construction, manufacturing and services. In addition, a fourth award for Innovation in Hearing Loss Prevention recognizes individuals and/or business entity, regardless of industrial sector.
The awards recognize those who demonstrate, by example, the benefits of developing or following good hearing loss prevention practices. Those selected will be recognized for their role in improving working conditions in the United States. In addition:
- A representative of the selected enterprises/organizations will be invited to the Annual Conference of the National Hearing Conservation Association, where they present their award winning stories.
- Examples of award-winning hearing loss prevention strategies will be presented on the NHCA and Safe-in-Sound websites.
The deadline for self-nominations is September 3, 2012. The 2012 awards will be presented on February 22, 2013 at the NHCA Annual Conference in St. Petersburg, FL. Additional information is available at www.safeinsound.us or send us your question to [email protected].
