Tool Testing Lab has added a digital, full-range (0-300 psi) full-featured tire pressure gauge to its line of tools for professional mechanics and technicians. Industry standards permit aircraft tires to lose as much as 1 percent of their pressure each day, and even mild underinflation can allow temperatures to rise exponentially, sometimes resulting in heat-induced failures even while taxiing. Underinflation can cause poor tracking and landings or even total failure of the tire or the wheel. Underinflation lengthens the takeoff roll and reduces the brakes’ predictability and effectiveness. The backlit digital gauge reads in psi, InHg, Oz/SqIn, inches or feet/H2O, Kg/sqCm, Kpa, and Bar, with ½ percent tolerance and as fine as 0.1 psi resolution. It also holds peak readings, and features a built-in bleeder valve. The TTL-300-DTG-K comes in a protective fitted rubber “skin.” The included angled and straight chucks mounted on tough flexible hose handles allow comfortable readings of virtually all Schraeder-valve pneumatic wheels and tubes. Quick-disconnect couplings allow instant chuck change-out. Reads air or other inert gases such as nitrogen; useful also in auto and truck applications. It includes a tire tread depth gauge. The versatile kit is housed in a rugged foam-fit plastic case. It is shipped with a one-year long-form National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) traceable certification and a one-year warranty against defects in materials and workmanship.
