"A complex and dynamic business", "aircraft technology and development", "the wide range of associated challenges", and "interdisciplinary cooperation" – those are the factors that Christian Mutz cites got him to take a career in the aviation industry.
Mutz attended the University of Applied sciences in Wildau, Germany and holds a Master of Engineering in aviation engineer and aviation logistics. He received further training from Lufthansa Technik’s Lean Academy and Lufthansa Technical Training, GPM-IPMA Project Management.
From 2008 to 2010, he was the project manager of aircraft systems engineering at LHT FRA; from there became the Innovation Manager Line Maintenance, LHT FRA between 2011 to 2014; then Project Lead Aircraft Entry into Service, LHT FRA in 2015-2017; and since 2018 has been the Head of Line Maintenance Planning, Control and Administration at LHT MUC.
"To solve problems is his mission, to never surrender his motto. Christian Mutz is an aeronautical engineer, proud father of two and a dedicated networker – after more than 10 years with Lufthansa Technik, he had not only been working with colleagues and several corporate partners, but also with competitors, city and airport administrations, airlines as well as academic research institutions. Mutz always makes sure everybody sits at the same table to exchange ideas and thoughts as well as critique and expertise. Since every employee is different and displays different strengths, he puts great focus on enhancing those diverse strengths to match them with compatible tasks. With his dynamic and pragmatic work ethic, he does not accept it when people tell him that there is nothing they can do to change problematic situations and always pushes his ideas and projects until they get realized. ‘I want to make a change,’ is how Mutz justifies his actions and why he always strives to make things work. Even if it means to take a rather unconventional approach: One time he had to lead a workshop, teaching his fellow colleagues about the possibilities of reversing/reverse driving an aircraft, so he made them practice it on a carpet, with miniature aircrafts. The idea was a full success,” wrote Holger Beck, head of aircraft maintenance, Munich, for Lufthansa Technik AG, when nominating Mutz.
Down the road, Mutz says: “I wish to continually improve and enhance my skills and take on different challenges in the field of aviation. Responsibility, leading people through changes and creative room on a senior management level are essential for me and what I strive for.”
