2024 AMT Top 40 Under 40: Trever Walker

Aug. 20, 2024

Trever Walker began his aviation career in 2007 when he joined the U.S. Air Force as a C-17 Globemaster III crew chief at Joint Base Charleston, SC. His responsibilities included aircraft inspections, fueling, marshalling, and both preventative and depot-level maintenance. Walker's eagerness to learn led him to volunteer at the base’s jet engine shop, where he gained hands-on experience with engine maintenance, fostering his aviation fundamentals, team development, and leadership skills.

He credits his success to the support of his co-workers, managers, mentors and his wife Robin.

“My drive is created by empowering the people around me to be the best version of themselves,” Walker said. “I strive to be successful and overcome roadblocks by finding different solutions to issues through the use of continuous improvement.”

After leaving the military in 2014, Walker and his wife relocated to Maryville, TN. In 2015, he joined StandardAero’s Maryville team as a Compressor Diffuser Repair & Overhaul Technician for Rolls-Royce engines. His duties involved receiving inspections, disassembly, cleaning, and assembly of compressor modules. A year later, Walker transitioned to the High Pressure Compressor (HPC) Rotor cell, handling the disassembly, cleaning, inspection, build, and balancing of rotors for various Rolls-Royce engines. He played a crucial role in setting up the AE 1107 HPC rotor cell for the V-22 Osprey and trained technicians for the AE 2100 and MT7 engines.

Walker's innovative mindset led him to spearhead continuous improvement projects, saving $265,000 annually. He also identified a critical vibration issue, preventing significant warranty costs for StandardAero. Recently appointed as Lead Technician, Walker now oversees daily production meetings and acts as a liaison between engineering and floor technicians.

Walker’s passion for aviation began in childhood. Growing up in Maine, he graduated high school with 70 classmates and joined the Air Force to pursue his aviation dreams. He has completed numerous courses and training programs, including Airmen Leadership School, an Airframe & Power Plant License, and coursework at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University.

Walker’s dedication has earned him multiple awards and recognition from his peers and management. He credits his success to the support of his co-workers, managers, and mentors. Walker’s drive and passion for StandardAero and his high standards reflect in his work, making him an integral part of the company’s success.
