Timken to Showcase Full Range of Aircraft Replacement Parts at NBAA
CANTON, Ohio – Oct. 17, 2012 – The Timken Company (NYSE: TKR) will exhibit its full-range of aerospace aftermarket parts and services at booth number 3307 at the National Business Aviation Association Annual Meeting & Convention (NBAA), Oct. 31 – Nov. 2 in Orlando, Fla. Timken continues to grow its aerospace aftermarket business through development of additional replacement part offerings, engine overhaul services and facility investments.
“We designed our business to provide a full aftermarket package, giving our customers greater control over, and more opportunities regarding, their maintenance,” said Larry Shiembob, director of the aerospace aftermarket for Timken. “Over the past few years, we’ve further developed this important part of our business working with both airlines and general aviation. At NBAA, we will showcase our engine overhaul capabilities, bearing repair services and FAA-approved replacement parts, including PT6A sun and planet gears, which begin shipping in early 2013.”
Today, Timken offers 2,500 FAA-approved Parts Manufacturer Approval (PMA) parts. “In just five years, we doubled our replacement products offering,” said Shiembob. “We started supplying PMA parts in 1996 for commercial, general aviation aircraft and both rotorcraft and fixed wing.” Since then, the company has sold nearly 3.5 million parts accounting for more than a billion flight hours of service.
The company’s operation in Mesa, Ariz., further supports aerospace aftermarket customers with engine overhaul, component overhaul and replacement parts. The 60,000-square-foot facility houses a two-bay engine test cell, installed at a cost of $2.5 million, with each bay configured to run PT6A, PT6T and T53.
Timken also provides precision-engineered components and assemblies for aerospace OEM and aftermarket customers. The company’s products span the lifecycle of commercial and military rotary and fixed wing aircraft. Timken supports Model 250, PT6, T53, T56/501 engines, auxiliary power units (APUs) and Bell UH-1, AH-1, 204, 205, 212 and 312 helicopters.
