Gulfstream Appoints Mike West Vice President Product Support and New Business Development
ORLANDO, Fla, October 29, 2012 — Gulfstream Aerospace Corp. has named aerospace industry veteran Mike West as vice president, Product Support Sales and New Business Development. West reports to Mark Burns, president, Gulfstream Product Support.
“Customers will benefit from Mike’s extensive knowledge of Gulfstream services and his thorough understanding of our Product Support organization from the ground up,” Burns said. “We are excited about the energy and leadership he brings to this critical position.”
Since September 2002, West has been director, Product Support Programs, Gulfstream. In that capacity, his duties included oversight and management of PlaneParts, Gulfstream’s fee-based parts subscription program; negotiations, budget and financial responsibility for customer warranty management, contracts and programs, including Gulfstream’s NetJets program; and establishing infrastructure and resources for Gulfstream customers in emerging world markets such as China and Brazil.
West’s accomplishments as director included negotiating Gulfstream’s first joint venture agreement with a Chinese partner, Beijing Capital Airlines Co. Ltd. (Deer Jet) and Grand China Aviation Technik, to operate a business jet service center at Beijing Capital International Airport.
West has also been a fleet account sales manager and a regional sales manager for Gulfstream. Prior to joining the company in 1999, West served as executive vice president and general manager, respectively, for aviation-related businesses TBM Inc. and AC Tech in the St. Louis area.
West earned a bachelor’s degree in aeronautical management from St. Louis University, Parks College campus, with a specialization in aircraft maintenance management. He is a licensed airframe and powerplant technician.
