South America Emerges as Largest Winglet Market for BLR Aerospace
SÃO PAULO, Aug. 11, 2014 — Twenty percent of the King Air 90/200/300 fleet in South America is equipped with performance-enhancing Winglet Systems from BLR Aerospace, making it the company’s largest regional market.
In total, 110 King Airs fly with BLR Winglets in South America, including 57 King Air 90s, 49 King Air 200s and 8 King Air 300s.
“We attribute our success in South America to customers who appreciate both performance and style, and to a dedicated, highly professional dealer network,” said Dave Marone, BLR’s Vice President of Sales and Marketing. “Lider, Premium Jet, and Quick have all been excellent partners.”
Marone and other BLR team members will be available to speak with customers, dealers and members of the media in Exhibit 2010 at the Latin American Business Aviation Conference and Exhibition (LABACE) Aug. 12-14 in São Paulo, Brazil. BLR will co-exhibit with Quick Aviação Ltda, a BLR representative in Brazil.
“It’s been clearly demonstrated that installation of BLR Winglets improves aerodynamic performance for King Airs and translates into bottom-line productivity improvements,” said Marone.
Winglet Systems deliver an array of important benefits to King Air operators, including significant fuel savings. Depending on flight profile, these savings can range from 5 to 15 percent in climb and 2 to 4 percent in cruise for combined savings of 3 to 5 percent.
Winglet-equipped King Airs experience reduced drag that translates into measurably better fuel economy, as well as other performance improvements such as increased climb, more responsive aerodynamic performance and stability, and safer low-speed handling qualities, especially during takeoffs and landings in short field operations. Winglets not only increase operational efficiency but also increase aircraft resale. According to data published in the Aircraft Blue Book, winglets deliver a 100 percent return on investment.
