Elbit Systems to Showcase Next-Gen Systems and Solutions for the Commercial Helicopter Market at HELI-EXPO 2015
At the upcoming Helicopter Association International HELI-EXPO 2015 exhibition, set to take place in Orlando, Florida from 3-5 March, Elbit Systems (Booth 5028) will present a range of unique and cutting-edge solutions for the commercial helicopter market.
Elbit Systems will introduce a new and unique display concept depicting “out of cockpit boundaries” solutions for helicopters - the Company’s wearable head-up display (HUD) and helmet mounted display (HMD) technology combined with the multispectral helicopter enhanced vision system (EVS) enables pilots to fly while looking outside the cockpit all the times, enhancing safety and situational awareness. The Elbit Systems booth is built to support this concept with a unique simulation: various scenarios such as rig approach, EMS mission in snowy mountains and other missions are projected on a half transparent glass screen that represents the “real world” environment. This unique display concept will provide visitors with a hands-on, real experience of the systems as they are used in actual flight.
The Elbit Systems’ helicopter avionics product line for commercial aviation applications fuses both synthetic and real-time imagery using a unique design symbology and computer flight guidance. These features offer helicopter pilots a “real-world” view of the terrain along with the full range of obstacles within their flight path, allowing them to “see and avoid” even when visibility outside the aircraft is limited.
Elbit Systems’ avionics increase mission efficiency and reduce operational costs by ensuring operational success while maintaining a high level of safety. Whether the mission is corporate, search and rescue, offshore marine, law enforcement or emergency management, Elbit Systems’ commercial helicopter avionics solutions can be adapted for operational success.
The following highlights systems and products to be exhibited at the show:
New Launch: Helicopter Clearvision™ is the rotary wing version of the unique Clearvision next generation EFVS. This cutting-edge system that has already demonstrated successful flights on-board various types of helicopter platforms, making it a world leading system in the commercial helicopter market. The solution is comprised of the HeliEVS™ camera and either the Skylens™ wearable HUD or the SkyVis™ Head Mounted Display (HMD), in order to address both non-helmet and helmet users.
Helicopter Clearvision will be presented in a live demo at the Company booth.
HeliEVS™ is based on the ClearVision EVS for fixed-wing application. The system is packaged in a single Line Replaceable Unit (LRU), which autonomously performs the complete Enhanced Vision System capability. Functionality is accomplished through real-time image fusion between multiple sensors at multiple spectral bands.
HeliEVS will be presented in the Company’s booth.
Skylens™ is the ideal display solution for non-helmet users, packed in a lightweight, easy-to-install device, as intuitive as a pair of sunglasses. Operational in limited weather conditions, day and night, Skylens provides head-up information and minimizes dependency on airport instrumentation.
The Skylens wearable HUD will be presented in the Company’s booth in a live demo as part of the “out of cockpit boundaries” new display concept.
SkyVis™ provides helicopter pilots with a conformal “head-up” view, displaying flight, vehicle and navigation symbology for day, night and NVG operation, in limited weather conditions. An add-on to the pilot’s own helmet, SkyVis is easily integrated with minimal footprint in the cockpit
A SkyVis HMD will be presented in the Company’s booth in a live demo as part of the “out of cockpit boundaries” new display concept.
