BLR Delivers 1,000th FastFin Tail Rotor Enhancement and Stability System
LOUISVILLE, Feb. 28, 2016 – From Alaska to Antarctica,1,000 FastFin® Tail Rotor Enhancement and Stability Systems are now flying on helicopters in 35 countries on all seven continents. The milestone 1,000th FastFin System was delivered to Agrarflug in Ahlen, Germany for installation on a Fumigacion Aerea Andaluza S.A (FAASA) Bell 212 on Jan. 29.
“BLR continues to be gratified by FastFin’s widespread market acceptance,” said Dave Marone, BLR’s Vice President of Sales and Marketing. With FastFin installed, operators are better able to maximize useful load and directional control for greater safety and return on investment — even in the most difficult conditions.
“From the North Slope Borough at the northern tip of Alaska, to the National Science Foundation in Antarctica, FastFin has earned its stripes one continent at a time,” Marone said, “and is a global ‘must have’ for operators who need the most from their fleets.”
Approximately 65 percent of the FastFin fleet flies commercial missions, and 35 percent support government and military operations. The U.S. Department of State is the largest FastFin operator, flying 150 systems on its Huey IIs. Other high-profile operators include the FBI, the U.K. Ministry of Defense, and the NYPD, to name a few.
Available for a range of Bell Medium helicopters, today, and the Airbus H125 later this year, the FastFin System includes patented airflow modifiers at strategic locations on the tailboom and/or vertical fin, optimizing airflow around the tailboom and dramatically improving tail rotor authority and wind azimuth tolerance. Installation is quick and efficient.
Certified more than a decade ago, FastFin is standard, factory-installed equipment on all new Bell 412EP and EPI helicopters.
The company invites guests to visit the BLR Aerospace exhibit (4545) throughout Heli-Expo, March 1-3 in Louisville, for more information.
